Today I travelled to Tilburg in the East of the Netherlands to visit the Textielmuseum. The various buildings which are clustered together to form the museum are comprised of old textile factories and many of the old machinery used in the past can be viewed by the public. TextielLab is an exciting assortment of modern day machines producing textile designers work with a diverse range of textiles being used and original designs. The exhibition on show, titled "Turkish Red & More", was a collection of International designers work inspired by the muesum's collection, with each designer interpreting the contents of the archive in their own way. The work by design duo Minale Maeda stood out for me, with their take on the idea of creating movement through repetition of motifs - altering details to bring an animation quality to the fabric.
